Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested For Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Hernando County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested following a domestic incident involving a firearm.

Deputies responded to a residence in Spring Hill at approximately 7:12 a.m. on March 7th, 2025, regarding a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they spoke with the female victim who alleged that Michael McNeeley, 23, pointed a firearm at her during a domestic argument.

Following an investigation, McNeeley, a Hernando County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested at the scene. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon without Intent to Kill and Domestic Battery.

McNeeley was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center and is being held without bond. Shortly after his arrest, he resigned from his position with the Sheriff’s Office.

“I share in the concern of our citizens for the safety and well-being of domestic violence victims,” stated Sheriff Al Nienhuis. “I am deeply disappointed in the actions of former Deputy McNeeley.”
