HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has released its latest schedule, and it looks like things are going to slow down on a busy stretch of US 98.

Starting Monday, January 26, crews will be working on the road from just north of CR 491 (Citrus Way) to just north of Landfill Road.

Here is what you need to know to avoid getting stuck in traffic:

  • What to expect: There will be lane closures and flagging operations. This usually means traffic is reduced to one lane, and flaggers will take turns letting cars through from each direction.
  • The Schedule: This is happening all week long, from Monday, Jan. 26 through Friday, Jan. 30.
  • The Hours: It’s an all-day event. Work starts bright and early at 6:30 a.m. and won’t wrap up until 6 p.m.

Since flagging operations stop traffic entirely for a few minutes at a time, lines can get long quickly, especially during the morning rush.

If you can, it might be smart to find a different route or pack some extra patience if you have to go this way.
