HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation has released its latest work schedule for the first week of February 2026, and a few major roads will see lane closures. Whether you are handling the morning school run or driving late at night, you will likely see construction crews out on the road.

The biggest project to watch out for is on US 98. If your daily route takes you north of Citrus Way (County Road 491) up toward Landfill Road, you should expect some slowdowns. Crews are scheduled to close lanes and use flaggers to direct traffic starting on Monday, February 2.

This isn’t just a one-day event; the work will continue every day through Friday, February 6. The closures begin early at 6:30 a.m. and won’t wrap up until 6 p.m., so this will impact both the morning and evening rush hours.

There is also some overnight work planned for the middle of the week at a busy intersection. If you find yourself driving near where US 301 meets State Road 50, keep your eyes open for activity on Wednesday night, February 4, and Thursday night, February 5.

This applies to US 301 specifically, as well as the east side of SR 50. The lane closures and flagging operations there will kick off at 8 p.m. and run overnight until 6:30 the next morning.

As always, officials are asking drivers to slow down and stay alert when passing through these work zones to keep everyone safe.
