HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers traveling through Hernando County early next week should prepare for a few nighttime slowdowns. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has flagged a stretch of US 301 for upcoming road work that will likely impact late-night commutes.

Starting Sunday, January 4, crews will begin operations on US 301, specifically the section running from just south of Major Dade Drive to north of Belt Drive.

Motorists can expect lane closures and flagging operations to control traffic flow while the work is underway. These closures are scheduled to take place overnight, kicking off at 8 p.m. and wrapping up by 6 a.m. the following morning.

The nightly work is currently set to run through Wednesday, January 7.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise extra caution in the area, watch for construction crews, and allow for a little extra travel time if navigating this stretch of US 301 after dark.
