Hernando County Traffic Alert: Roadwork Set To Snag Traffic On US 98 And Reynolds Street

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Hernando County should prepare for some extra time behind the wheel starting Monday as the Florida Department of Transportation kicks off a series of scheduled lane closures.

Maintenance and operations are scheduled to affect two busy stretches of roadway between March 30 and April 3, resulting in flagging operations and potential delays for local commuters.

The most significant impact will occur on US 98, stretching from north of CR 491 (Citrus Way) to just north of Landfill Road. According to FDOT District 7, crews will be active in this area from Monday through Friday. Motorists can expect lane closures and flagging operations throughout the daylight hours, specifically between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, a separate project will affect traffic on Reynolds Street, just east of US 301. Starting Wednesday, April 1, the westbound lane will be closed to allow for work crews to operate. These closures are scheduled to run through Friday, April 3, with flagging operations in place daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

State officials are advising travelers to stay alert, slow down in work zones, and watch for flaggers directing traffic.

While the projects are expected to conclude by the end of the week, the timing of the daily work is designed to take advantage of daylight, meaning peak morning and afternoon travel times will be impacted.
