CLEARWATER, Fla. – A quick response by Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel this morning led to the successful rescue of a dog from a house fire.

Crews responded to a blaze at 1436 Barbara Ave. at 6:42 a.m. Firefighters swiftly worked to extinguish the flames and, in the process, located a dog trapped inside the residence.

After being brought to safety, the dog, identified as Bandit, was immediately treated at the scene. Fire & Rescue personnel administered oxygen to the animal to help with smoke inhalation. Clearwater Police officers then rushed Bandit to a local emergency veterinarian for further treatment.

Dog Expected to Be OK

“Bandit is expected to be OK,” officials reported after emergency responders’ actions.

No one was home at the time the fire broke out. The residence sustained damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have started in the kitchen. Clearwater Fire & Rescue and Police departments continue to investigate the incident.
