POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff’s deputies closed the book on two outstanding warrants, taking a sex offender and a repeat probation violator into custody in separate incidents across the county.
The most recent arrest occurred on Friday night, November 28, in Frostproof. Around 9 p.m., deputies located 56-year-old Todd Joseph Kurz at a home on Walter Avenue.
Kurz was wanted on an active warrant out of Highlands County. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he faces three counts regarding the Failure of a Sex Offender to Register. Deputies took Kurz into custody without incident, and he was booked into the Sheriff’s Processing Center.

In a separate case earlier in the week, deputies in Auburndale tracked down a woman accused of repeatedly violating court orders.
On Saturday morning, November 22, deputies arrived at a residence on Poinsettia Avenue looking for 29-year-old Taylor Ann Huggins. Huggins had been on probation since April 2025 following a conviction for fleeing to elude law enforcement.
According to investigators, Huggins racked up nine violations since her sentencing. These included failing to report to her probation officer, skipping random drug screenings, and failing to pay required restitution and court fees.

When deputies arrived at the Auburndale home around 10:30 a.m., they ordered Huggins to exit a bedroom. Reports state she refused to comply with the commands. When deputies entered the room, they found Huggins attempting to hide underneath a bed.
She was arrested on the Violation of Probation warrant and now faces an additional charge of Resisting without Violence.
