Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attacked Republicans on Wednesday, immediately after calling on everyone to “stop demonizing” one another for their political differences.
Clinton told the panelists on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that while Americans need to “stop demonizing each other,” most of the demonization is coming from the political right. She then accused Republicans of wanting to erase slavery from U.S. history and of only wanting to hear their own point of view.
“We have to got to stop demonizing each other,” Clinton said. “Now, I think most of that right now in our country’s history is coming from the right, from people who want to dominate, they want their point of view. You know, writing out slavery from history? That doesn’t make it go away.”
“You know, we’ve got to stop with the finger-pointing and the scapegoating. We can have legitimate disagreements, right? I mean, how do you provide affordable healthcare for everybody?” Clinton continued. “Let’s figure that out. How do you deal with what’s gonna be job loss from AI? Let’s get working on that. That’s what we should be doing, but we should do it in the truth-based reality that we have to live in. Facts and evidence have to matter again.”
While political attacks have come from both sides, Democrats spent an entire election cycle ahead of November 2024 calling President Donald Trump a “threat to democracy” and a “fascist,” along with comparing him to Adolf Hitler. Clinton has repeatedly warned that Trump is a “threat” to American democracy and even stated on “The Rachel Maddow Show” that he desired to be a “dictator” just one day following the second assassination attempt against him.
Following the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, 58 Democrats in the House voted against a resolution to honor Kirk’s life. Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Kirk “ignorant’ and “uneducated” on the House floor on Friday, while Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar made several baseless claims about Kirk on Sept. 11 and criticized anyone who is honoring his good deeds.
As of July 4, 2025, far-left extremists accounted for five terrorist attacks or attempted attacks, which puts 2025 on pace to be the most violent year for the political left in over 30 years, according to The Atlantic. Violence coming from the political right has since been on the decline.
