HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County officials have announced the activation of emergency cold weather shelters for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. The move comes as the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures, including wind chill, to drop to 40 degrees or below for at least two consecutive hours between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The shelters are intended for individuals experiencing homelessness or those living in homes without functional heating systems. Because organizers expect high demand and limited capacity, residents are encouraged to seek assistance from friends or family as a primary option before utilizing the county’s emergency resources.
