HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is turning to the community for help in tracking down a 46-year-old registered sex offender who is currently wanted on nearly a dozen active charges.
Detectives announced they are actively searching for Waylon Gene Croom. According to investigators, Croom is facing a long list of law enforcement violations regarding his mandatory registration requirements.
In total, Croom is wanted on 11 separate charges, which include two counts of violation of residency restrictions by a convicted sex offender, four counts of providing false information after registration, and two counts of failing to report a change in vehicle ownership within the required 48-hour window.

Additionally, sheriff’s deputies say Croom failed to report a change in his name or residence within 48 hours, failed to report changes to his telephone number, employment, or educational enrollment, and failed to report for his mandatory driver’s license or identification card renewal.
Authorities have not released details regarding Croom’s last known location or his potential whereabouts.
“If you have any information on his current whereabouts, detectives ask that you reach out by calling 813-247-8200,” the sheriff’s office stated in an official release.
