HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested on Friday following an investigation into stalking allegations.
Andrew Brown, 39, who was assigned to the Department of Patrol Services, faces one count of stalking. He has been employed with the agency for nine months.
According to investigators, the incident began during a traffic stop on July 7, 2026, at approximately 10:22 p.m., when Brown stopped the victim and obtained her phone number. Detectives reported that Brown subsequently sent the victim a continuous series of unwanted messages, which persisted even after the victim blocked his number.
Following reports of the misconduct, detectives initiated a criminal investigation that resulted in Brown’s arrest.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has suspended Brown without pay pending the outcome of both the criminal case and an internal administrative investigation.
“When someone puts on our uniform, they take on a responsibility to serve with integrity. The badge is a symbol of trust, and this deputy betrayed that trust,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “That is a violation of everything HCSO stands for, and it makes me furious. We will hold him accountable, just as we would anyone else who breaks the law.”
