HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that led to the arrest of an employee.
Just before 10 p.m. on August 6, 2022, Detention Corporal Calvin Edwards, who works within the Jail Division, engaged in a verbal altercation with a victim with whom he resides.
When the victim attempted to dial 911 to report the altercation, Edwards grabbed the victim’s arm to prevent the victim from making the call. The victim was not seriously injured, and Edwards was arrested and charged with domestic violence battery and tampering with a witness.
“Letting an argument escalate into something physical is never acceptable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “As we investigate this incident, Corporal Edwards has been placed on administrative leave.”
