HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a working structure fire at 15413 S. County Road 39 in Lithia Friday night.

“Our Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call at around 10:50 PM Friday night from a first-party caller reporting flames and smoke coming from a small warehouse,” said HCFR.

Engine 2 was first on the scene, confirming heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Firefighters stretched multiple handlines to defensively attack the blaze.

Water was supplied through water tanker shuttle operations, as there were no hydrants in the area. Crews conducted primary and secondary searches of the building.

There were no occupants found.

There was an arcing power line on one side of the building, which limited access to the fire on that side. Once TECO secured power, crews finished extinguishing the fire.

“There were no injuries to civilians or first responders. Our Fire Investigations Unit determined the cause to be wind-related. High winds lifted the metal roof of the building into nearby powerlines, which sparked the blaze,” said HCFR.
