The board also approved the district’s reopening plan, which they will now have to submit to the state.

Following Superintendent Addison Davis’ recommendation, from July 16th, to postpone classes for at least two-weeks, the School Board held a special meeting Thursday for the vote.

This vote follows Pasco County School Boards’ recent vote to delay the school reopening date until Aug 24th as well, recommended by Superintendent Kurt Browning.

During the school board meeting on Tuesday, Browning said, “The order does not give districts any wiggle room to not open our schools. I don’t necessarily agree with the order but it is an immaterial point,” in reference to the state emergency order for Florida’s Phase-2 school openings.
