Hillsborough County: Sheriff Seeking Attempted Sexual Battery Suspect

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect in connection to the Attempted Sexual Battery that occurred on November 27, 2021, at approx. 9 a.m.

A woman was walking in the area of Celestial Oaks Drive and Central Avenue North in Tampa when she was approached by the suspect.  He asked her for money and cigarettes.

The victim did not give him any and she continued walking south. The suspect approached the victim again near the intersection of Central Avenue North and 138th Avenue East where he pushed the victim to the ground and attempted to sexually batter her.

The suspect has been identified as Ron Smith, who uses the alias of Stephen D. Smith.  Smith is 42 years old, 6’01”, 170 lbs., homeless, and known to be in the Ybor City area.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the location and arrest of Ron Smith for this outstanding warrant.
