Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Employee Placed on Leave After Saturday Night Incident
A detention deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) late Saturday evening.
Shannon McBride, 60, who has been employed with HCSO for seven years and was assigned to a housing unit at the Orient Road Jail, was taken into custody after Manatee County deputies responded to a call regarding a possible intoxicated driver.
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 8:29 p.m., when MCSO deputies were alerted to a silver Toyota Tacoma being driven by a potentially impaired individual in the area of 1200 Upper Manatee River Road. Deputies located the vehicle improperly parked in the lot of the Brixley Apartments, located at 1100 Upper Manatee River Road.
McBride was found in the driver’s seat and, according to reports, displayed clear signs of impairment. Upon her arrest, she refused to provide a breath sample.
McBride was booked into the Manatee County Jail and charged with Driving Under the Influence. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that McBride is currently on administrative leave without pay, pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation into the matter.
The investigation is being handled by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
