HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – For college students watching their tuition bills climb, a bit of financial relief is available courtesy of local election officials. Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer has announced that applications are now open for a scholarship program designed to support the next generation of public servants and journalists.
The Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE) is offering three separate scholarships this year, each worth $1,200. The funds are earmarked specifically for Florida residents who are currently enrolled full-time at a senior college or university within the state.
The money isn’t just for anyone, however. The program targets students who have already established themselves in their academic careers. To qualify, applicants must be at least a junior—or have enough credits to be considered one—by the application date.

Furthermore, the scholarship is focused on specific fields of study. Eligibility is limited to students majoring in Political Science, Public or Business Administration, or Journalism/Mass Communication.
For those living in Hillsborough County, the process starts locally. Residents must submit their applications directly through the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office.
The clock is already ticking on the opportunity. The deadline to apply is March 6, 2026.
