HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers who rely on Morris Bridge Road to navigate New Tampa should prepare for a significant disruption starting next week.

Hillsborough County officials announced that a portion of the road will close to all traffic for more than two weeks, beginning Monday, Dec. 8, and lasting through Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Crews are shutting down the roadway to perform necessary repairs on stormwater drainage systems.

While the closure itself covers a relatively short distance—specifically the stretch between Apache Drive and Bonnet Hole Drive—officials warn the impact on traffic flow could be heavy. The work zone is located south of Cross Creek Boulevard and north of Cory Lake Boulevard.

Because this is a key artery for the area, the county noted that detours “can be extensive.”

Commuters are being urged to avoid the area if possible and utilize Cross Creek Boulevard and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard as primary alternates. Local officials stated that major navigation apps have already been updated to route drivers around the barricades.
