HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – If you’re planning to use the interstates after dark, you’ll want to give yourself some extra time starting Sunday, June 28. On I-75, crews are shutting down lanes between MLK Jr. Boulevard and Fowler Avenue every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday, July 2.
If you cross the bay, the Howard Frankland Bridge on I-275 will have lane closures in both directions from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. during that same Sunday-to-Thursday stretch.
Right past the bridge, the northbound lanes of I-275 up to Exit 39 (SR 60/SR 589) will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., while the southbound lanes at Exit 39 get a slightly longer restriction from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Further into town, I-275 lanes between Willow Avenue and Green Street will also close overnight from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., but they’ll finish up a day early on Wednesday night, July 1.
The U.S. highways and bridges are also getting hit hard. Eastbound traffic on the Gandy Bridge (US 92) and Gandy Boulevard out to Dale Mabry Highway will see nightly lane closures from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Over on the US 41 bridge (22nd Street Causeway) at McKay Bay, expect nightly closures from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
If you use Nebraska Avenue (US 41) over the Hillsborough River, your midday drive will be impacted—lanes there close from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Over on US 301, daytime lane closures at Ayersworth Glen Boulevard run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. There’s also a quick, one-night closure on US 301 at Big Bend Road from 9 p.m. Monday, June 29, until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
State roads are looking at a mix of daytime and nighttime projects. The eastbound State Road 60 ramp onto northbound I-275 will close down every night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. SR 60 will also have nightly closures at North 26th Street (8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.) and from Buckingham Place to Lithia Pinecrest Road (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
On Park Road (SR 553), crews are working around the clock between Baker Street and I-4, meaning you’ll run into closures during the day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. MLK Jr. Boulevard (SR 574) is getting double coverage at North 12th Street with daytime work (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday) and nighttime work (7 p.m. to midnight Sunday-Thursday). SR 574 at Buccaneer Place will also see nightly closures from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
Lastly, if you use the local roads, watch out for some major long-term roadblocks. Broadway Avenue under US 301 is completely shut down 24/7 through July 20, 2026. Frontage Road has two massive closures: lanes are closed around the clock from Cypress Street to Cypress Center Drive until late 2026, and the stretch from Cypress Street to Lemon Street is entirely blocked off until January 2027.
For shorter trips, southbound County Line Road from Swindell to South Frontage Road will close nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and Gray Street at Reo Street will have daytime flagging operations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
