HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has released its lane closure summary for the week of October 12 – 18, 2025, indicating a high volume of maintenance and construction activity across Hillsborough County.

Commuters should brace for significant delays, especially on major interstates and key local thoroughfares, with many closures scheduled during nighttime hours and some extending into daytime traffic.

Interstate travelers face several key pinch points throughout the week:

  • I-75: Multiple closures are slated between the Tampa Bypass Canal and Fowler Avenue. Specifically, lane closures will take place from SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) to Fowler Avenue nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, October 12, through Friday, October 17. Additionally, a continuous shoulder closure remains in effect in this corridor 24 hours a day through November 7.
  • I-275 (Howard Frankland Bridge): Work affecting traffic between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will close lanes nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, October 12, through Saturday, October 18.
  • I-275 Southbound Ramp: The entrance ramp from George J. Bean Parkway and Memorial Highway will also have nightly lane closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday.

Several major US and State roads will experience closures impacting both evening and daytime travel:

  • US 301: This highway sees extensive activity, including a combination of overnight and daytime lane closures from Whitt Road to Rivercrest Drive. Daytime closures will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, while night work is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Furthermore, closures are scheduled at Ayersworth Glen Boulevard (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon-Fri) and a northbound shoulder closure at Flink Creek Bridge (7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tue-Fri).
  • SR 60 Corridor: Heavy overnight work is planned on SR 60 (Memorial Highway) westbound, from George J. Bean Parkway to SR 589 (Veterans Expressway), from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and on SR 60 (Kennedy Boulevard) from Armenia Avenue to Rome Avenue, from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Both run Sunday through Thursday nights. SR 60 (Adamo Drive) will also have night closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • SR 39: A significant, continuous 24-hour per day closure is scheduled at Trapnell Rd beginning Monday, October 13, and continuing through October 25.

Motorists should be aware of numerous additional nighttime closures from Sunday through Thursday or Friday:

  • US 41B (Highland Avenue) southbound closures from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • SR 582 (Fowler Avenue) from west of N 51st Street to Riverhills Drive from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • SR 553 (Park Road) from US 92 to north of I-4 from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
  • SR 676 (Causeway Boulevard) between US 301 and 50th Street from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

FDOT strongly urges drivers to plan their routes accordingly, seek alternate roadways, and allow for extra travel time, especially during peak commute hours, to avoid construction-related delays. Speed limits are reduced in construction zones and law enforcement will be present.
