Overnight and Daytime Work Set for I-4, I-75, I-275, and Local Roads from September 28 to October 4
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced an extensive schedule of lane closures across Hillsborough County this week, beginning Sunday, September 28, and running through Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Drivers should anticipate significant delays, particularly during nighttime hours on major thoroughfares.
Interstate and Major Highway Closures
The heaviest concentration of work will occur on the area’s main interstates.
I-75 will see continuous overnight lane closures from Progress Boulevard to Woodberry Road and between the Tampa Bypass Canal and Fowler Avenue. Drivers should note the shoulder closure in the latter segment is a 24-hour closure and will continue until November 7. Further work on I-75 from SR 574 (MLK Jr. Blvd.) to Fowler Avenue is scheduled for late-night hours.
I-4 eastbound traffic at the Mango Road Exit will be impacted by nightly closures from Monday to Friday.
The I-275 (Howard Frankland Bridge), a critical link between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, is scheduled for nightly closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. throughout the week.
The I-275 southbound entrance ramp from George J. Bean Parkway and Memorial Highway will also be closed on an overnight schedule.
Local Roadway Disruptions
A number of major local roads and state routes are also on the closure list, with some work planned for daytime hours.
US 301 will be subject to closures in several spots, including daytime work from Whitt Road to Rivercrest Drive and at Ayersworth Glen Boulevard, as well as overnight work near Crest Side Boulevard.
US 92 (Dale Mabry Highway), just north of El Prado Boulevard, faces a 24-hour per day southbound lane closure until Friday, October 3.
US 41B (Highland Avenue) southbound lanes will be closed overnight between Violet Street and SR 574.
State Road closures include stretches of SR 60 (Memorial and Kennedy Highway), SR 553 (Park Road), and SR 676 (Causeway Boulevard), mostly during the night.
Motorists using C.R. 672 (Big Bend Road) should also be aware of overnight closures from US 301 to Symmes Loop.
Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes, allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution in all work zones. The bulk of the scheduled work is intended to minimize disruption during peak commuting hours, focusing instead on late evening and overnight periods.
