HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers traveling across Hillsborough County will encounter widespread lane closures and construction work starting Sunday, August 23, according to a weekly advisory released by the Florida Department of Transportation District 7.
Multiple major interstates and bridges are scheduled for nighttime work. On Interstate 75, drivers will see nightly lane closures between the Interstate 4 interchange and Fowler Avenue from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The work begins Sunday, August 23, and will continue through Friday, October 2.
Cross-bay traffic will also face disruption. On Interstate 275, nightly closures are planned across the Howard Frankland Bridge between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., running Sunday, August 23, through Saturday, August 29.
Northbound I-275 from the bridge to Exit 39 (State Road 60 West/State Road 689) will also have nightly closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, August 27. On US 92, eastbound lanes on the Gandy Bridge will be restricted overnight between 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. from Sunday through Friday, August 28.
Additionally, the US 41 bridge over McKay Bay (22nd Street Causeway) will have nightly closures from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. through Thursday, August 27.
Several surface highways throughout the county will see construction operations as well:
US 92 (Hillsborough Avenue): Lane closures run from 39th Street North to 42nd Street North nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Friday, August 28. Further west at North 15th Street, overnight closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, August 27.
US 301: Multiple sections will undergo work. Overnight closures are set from the Manatee County line to State Road 674 (Sun City Center Boulevard) from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. through Saturday, August 29. Nightly work is also scheduled at Big Bend Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, August 27, and between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (State Road 574) and State Road 60 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, August 27. Daytime closures will take place at Ayersworth Glen Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, August 24 through Friday, August 28.
State Road 60: Overnight lane closures will affect three areas through Thursday, August 27. On Kennedy Boulevard, work runs from Woodlynne Avenue to Brevard Avenue from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. On Adamo Drive, lanes will close at North 26th Street from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. East of Brandon, lanes will be closed between Buckingham Place and Lithia Pinecrest Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
State Road 574 (West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard): At North 12th Street, daytime closures are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., alongside evening closures from 7 p.m. to midnight through Thursday, August 27. At Buccaneer Place, overnight closures will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday, August 27.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, exercise caution in work zones, and watch for active construction crews and signage throughout the week.
