Hillsborough County Traffic Alert: Major Nightly Lane Closures Slated March 22-28

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has released a significant list of lane closures for the week of March 22 through March 28, 2026, affecting several major arteries throughout Hillsborough County.

Motorists should prepare for overnight delays on primary interstates and bridges, as well as long-term closures on local frontage roads.

Bridge commuters will face several hurdles this week. The Howard Frankland Bridge (I-275) will see nightly lane closures between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties from Sunday through Thursday, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Additionally, the Gandy Bridge (US 92) will have eastbound lane closures from Monday through Friday during the day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the stretch of Gandy Boulevard from the bridge to Dale Mabry Highway will be restricted nightly from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. all week long.

On the interstate system, I-75 will be reduced to fewer lanes between MLK Jr. Boulevard and Fowler Avenue from Monday through Friday nights, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Near the airport, westbound Memorial Highway (SR 60) will see closures from George J. Bean Parkway to the Veterans Expressway Sunday through Thursday nights. Furthermore, the eastbound Memorial Highway entrance ramp to northbound I-275 is scheduled for closure on Monday and Tuesday nights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

US 301 is set for extensive work across multiple segments. The stretch from Bloomingdale Avenue to MLK Jr. Boulevard remains under 24-hour-a-day lane closures through April 10. Other sections of US 301, including areas near Big Bend Road, Whitt Road, and the Manatee County line, will experience nightly closures generally starting between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Local travelers should also note that Frontage Road from Cypress Street to Lemon Street is closed entirely, 24 hours a day, with an expected reopening not until January 2027. Another portion of Frontage Road near Cypress Center Drive will remain restricted 24/7 through late 2026.

Other impacted routes include Dale Mabry Highway, Adamo Drive, and Park Road, with various daytime and nighttime restrictions throughout the week. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes to avoid these construction zones.
