HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced an extensive list of lane closures for Hillsborough County scheduled for November 23-29.

Commuters and Thanksgiving week travelers should brace for significant delays, especially on major interstates and thoroughfares.

The bulk of the closures are concentrated on the days leading up to Wednesday’s traditional holiday travel rush, spanning from Sunday, November 23, through Tuesday, November 25. Drivers are strongly advised to check alternate routes and adjust travel times, particularly during nighttime and daytime work hours.

Major Interstate and Bridge Impacts

  • I-75: North and southbound lanes between SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) and Fowler Avenue will see nightly closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, November 23, through Tuesday, November 25. This work is part of a longer-term project continuing through December 23, 2025. *
  • I-275 (Howard Frankland Bridge): The bridge connecting Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will have nightly lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, November 23, through Tuesday, November 25. Expect backups for late-night and early-morning cross-bay travel.

Key County Road Closures

Several major state and US routes face both day and night closures:

  • US 301: Drivers will encounter multiple work zones. Nightly lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. are scheduled from Whitt Road to Rivercrest Drive (Sunday-Tuesday nights), with daytime closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday-Wednesday). A separate segment at Ayersworth Glen Boulevard also has daytime closures (8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday and Tuesday).
  • SR 60 (Adamo Drive): This busy route will see a combination of night work (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) and day work (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) between US 41 and US 301 on Monday and Tuesday.
  • US 92 (Dale Mabry Highway): Nightly closures from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. are set between Ballast Point and Gandy Boulevards on Sunday and Monday nights.
  • SR 582 (Fowler Avenue): Nightly closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. are planned near Riverhills Drive, Sunday through Tuesday nights.

Long-Term Closures to Note

Two projects are part of extended construction timelines:

  • SR 39: Northbound lanes between Kilgore Road and Sparkman Road will be affected by daytime closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Sunday-Tuesday) as part of work continuing into February 2026.
  • 15th Street: A 24-hour continuous northbound lane closure between Palm Avenue and 12th Avenue remains in effect and is expected to last through May 2026.

FDOT urges all drivers to reduce speed in work zones and be aware of construction personnel and equipment. Lane closures may be subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
