HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies successfully rescued three kayakers on Sunday who were stranded on the Hillsborough River. The rescue operation began around 6:30 p.m.

As darkness fell, the kayakers lost their way and were unable to locate their exit point. They called the HCSO for assistance. The Sheriff’s Office Aviation Section, utilizing advanced technology, quickly pinpointed the location of the stranded individuals.

The HCSO Marine Unit, working in collaboration with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) and park rangers, safely transported the kayakers back to shore. Fortunately, all three individuals were rescued without any injuries.

“This successful rescue demonstrates the importance of teamwork and the specialized skills our units bring to every situation,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are proud of our deputies and partners who ensured these individuals returned home safely.”

The incident underscores the critical role of HCSO’s specialized units in responding to emergencies and ensuring public safety.
