The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting The Florida Highway Patrol on a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

Hit And Run: 40-Year-Od Largo Man Killed Crossing US-19, Holiday Man Arrested On DUI

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. – A 40-year-old Largo man was killed in a hit-and-run crash that happened around 2:20 am on Saturday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol a car was traveling southbound on US-19 when the Largo man attempted to run westbound across the highway and entered the path of the vehicle. 

Troopers say the car collided with the man who suffered fatal injuries at the crash scene. 

Following the crash, the driver fled the scene only to be located by Pinellas Deputies at Alderman Road and Belcher Road within a few minutes. 

The driver, Cheddy Herland Lewis, 33, of Holiday, was later arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI and delivered to the Pinellas County Jail.
