WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A 55-year-old Dundee woman is behind bars today after authorities say she barreled through a series of traffic signals, struck a motorcyclist, and then walked away from the wreckage while the victim lay critically injured.

The crash occurred around 5:39 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the intersection of W. Central Avenue and 2nd Street NW in Winter Haven.

Polk County Sheriff’s deputies report that Cresenciana Mazinis was speeding eastbound in a Honda CRV when she ignored a red light and two stop signs without slowing down. As she entered the intersection, she slammed into the side of a 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound.

The force of the collision threw the rider onto the hood of the Honda. He was carried roughly 25 feet before falling to the pavement.

Immediately after the impact, Mazinis reportedly exited her vehicle and began walking away. Bystanders tried to stop her, but she refused to wait for help and continued to flee on foot. Witnesses stayed at the scene to call 911 and provide a physical description to dispatchers.

Winter Haven Police officers tracked her down about two blocks from the crash site. While being detained, Mazinis told officers she “had somewhere else to be” and initially refused to provide information.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was discovered by first responders lying in the grass. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital suffering from a traumatic head injury and multiple fractures to his legs and feet.

After being treated at a hospital for a minor leg injury, Mazinis was booked into jail. She faces several charges, including reckless driving with serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury. Deputies also charged her with a probation violation stemming from a 2024 trespassing case and a misdemeanor for refusing to sign her traffic citations.

“This driver left a man on the ground with life-threatening injuries and tried to flee from her responsibility,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “We are grateful for the witnesses who stayed at the scene and immediately called 911 with a description of the driver — their quick actions helped our deputies and the Winter Haven Police Department locate her and make sure she was held accountable.”
