CLEARWATER, Fla. – Unattended cooking led to a house fire this afternoon on Byram Drive while the home’s residents were outside putting up Christmas decorations. Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the blaze at 1915 Byram Drive at 2:13 p.m.
The fire, which reportedly started in the kitchen, filled the home with smoke, but no injuries were reported.
During their operations, firefighters successfully rescued one dog from the smoke-filled residence. The dog, identified as Peso, was immediately treated on the scene with oxygen by fire personnel.
Peso was then rushed to a local emergency veterinarian in a Clearwater Police cruiser for further evaluation and treatment. Authorities have indicated that the dog is expected to recover and is doing well.
Fire damage was primarily limited to the kitchen area.
