Honduran National Pleads Guilty To ‘Unlawful Reentry’ In Oklahoma

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Adelby Isloa Martinez Mendez, 35, of Honduras, has pleaded guilty to one count of Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien.

According to court records, Martinez Mendez was found in the United States on March 5, 2024, after having been previously deported and removed from the country on two prior occasions.

The case stems from an investigation conducted by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Division.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted the plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The court has ordered a presentence investigation report, a standard process to gather detailed background information about the defendant to assist in determining an appropriate sentence.

Martinez Mendez will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.

Unlawful reentry is a federal offense under U.S. law, particularly for individuals who have been removed multiple times.

If convicted, Martinez Mendez could face additional consequences, including prison time and another removal order, depending on the sentencing determination.

No date has been set for the sentencing hearing at this time.
