Hooves On The Highway: Florida Trooper Lunges Into Traffic To Save Wayward Fawn

A morning patrol on South Pleasant Grove Road in Floral City took a dramatic turn Tuesday when a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper successfully intercepted a young deer darting directly into the path of oncoming vehicles.

The rescue prevented a near-certain collision on the busy roadway, ensuring the safety of both the animal and local commuters.

The incident began during the early morning hours when troopers spotted the fawn, which appeared disoriented, attempting to cross several lanes of active traffic. Recognizing the danger, the trooper on the scene managed to secure the animal before any harm could occur.

While the fawn appeared to be uninjured following its brush with disaster, officials decided to call in specialists to ensure the animal’s long-term well-being. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the deer has since been handed over to a local rehabilitation center for a full evaluation and professional care.

“Our friends with Nature World Wildlife Rescue are assisting to help the little guy!” the agency added.

The fawn will remain under the supervision of wildlife experts until it is deemed strong enough to be returned to its natural habitat. No injuries to motorists or law enforcement were reported during the rescue.
