The House Oversight Committee released video footage on Monday documenting the recent depositions of Bill and Hillary Clinton, centering on their past associations with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The release follows a series of closed-door sessions that marked a historical milestone, as the pair became the highest-ranking officials ever to be deposed by Congress.

During her testimony on Thursday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told lawmakers she did not recall ever meeting Epstein. Regarding Epstein’s long-time associate Ghislaine Maxwell, Clinton stated that she had only met her briefly.

Former President Bill Clinton followed with a deposition on Friday. While he criticized the panel for calling his wife to testify, he maintained that he had severed all ties with Epstein long before the financier’s criminal activities were publicly known.

“If I had any inkling of what he was doing—I would have turned him in myself,” the former president told the committee.

The inquiry follows the Justice Department’s December release of photographs showing Bill Clinton alongside Epstein. In response to the images, the former president’s legal team issued a statement categorizing individuals linked to Epstein into two camps.

“There are two types of people here,” the statement read. “The first group knew nothing and cut Epstein off before his crimes came to light. The second group continued relationships with him after. We’re in the first.”

Despite reported moments of friction between the lawmakers and the witnesses, the proceedings drew recognition for their unprecedented nature. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) noted that the former president attempted to engage with the inquiry throughout the process.

“He did attempt to respond to every single question asked, even when his attorney told him to shut up,” Comer said following the session.

Comer emphasized the significance of the event in congressional history, noting the status of the two witnesses. “This was historical,” Comer stated. “I believe that in the history of Congress, the two highest ranked officials to ever be deposed by Congress would be President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.”
