PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Just one day after a hit-and-run crash on US-19, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troopers have located the suspect vehicle and arrested the driver responsible for colliding with a motorcyclist from Spring Hill.

The original incident occurred on October 24th at the intersection of US-19 and Maryland Avenue in Pasco County.

A silver mid-sized SUV, traveling northbound on US-19, made a left turn directly into the path of a southbound Suzuki motorcycle, operated by a 34-year-old Spring Hill man. The SUV fled the scene after the collision, heading westbound on Maryland Avenue.

FHP Locates Suspect in Hudson

While continuing the investigation into the serious injury crash, FHP Troopers successfully tracked down the suspect vehicle in the afternoon hours of October 25th. The silver mid-sized SUV was found at a private residence on Sheepshead Drive in Hudson, Florida.

Troopers also located and arrested the driver, identified as Kenneth Raymond Smith, 76, at the residence.

Smith was taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of a serious injury crash, a felony violation of State Law. The investigation is ongoing.


ORIGINAL REPORT: The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is actively searching for the driver of a silver mid-sized SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash with a motorcycle on US-19, according to an FHP report.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Maryland Avenue. According to the report, a silver mid-sized SUV, traveling northbound on US-19, made a left turn directly into the path of a southbound Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcycle, operated by a 34-year-old Spring Hill man, then struck the SUV.

Following the crash, the driver of the SUV failed to stop and immediately fled the scene, continuing westbound on Maryland Avenue.

Details on the condition of the motorcyclist were not immediately available in the report.
