PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A Hudson man is behind bars following a deadly collision on Parkwood Street Thursday night. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 9:03 PM on February 19, just south of Bert Street.
State troopers report that 24-year-old Logan Richard Pineda was driving a Tesla Model Y southbound when his vehicle overtook and struck a bicyclist traveling in the same direction. The victim, identified as a 52-year-old woman from Tampa, sustained critical injuries in the crash.
Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say Pineda initially fled the scene immediately following the impact. However, while troopers were still conducting their investigation at the site of the crash, Pineda returned and identified himself as the driver involved.
FHP troopers took Pineda into custody on the spot. He was booked into the Pasco County Jail on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. The investigation into the specific circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
