Hurricane Francine made landfall in southern Louisiana on Wednesday evening, marking the first hurricane to hit the state since Ida in 2021.
The storm intensified rapidly into a Category 2 hurricane, reaching maximum sustained winds of nearly 100 mph before hitting Terrebonne Parish.

While Francine is expected to weaken as it moves inland, it will still bring heavy rainfall and strong winds across the region.
This is the third hurricane to make landfall in the US this year, the highest number since 2020.
