Hurricane Ian LIVE Cams After Florida Landfall

On Wednesday morning, Hurricane Ian had grown even stronger and was headed for landfall along Florida's west coast after tearing into Cuba, leaving 11 million people without electricity.

Hurricane Ian has officially made landfall near Cayo Costa, in southwestern Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Landfall occurred along the southwestern coast of Florida near Cayo Costa around 3:05 pm EDT with winds near 150 mph, making Ian a high-end Category 4 hurricane.

An extreme wind warning is in effect for Cape Coral FL, Lehigh Acres FL, and Fort Myers FL until 6:00 PM EDT for extremely dangerous hurricane winds.

“Treat these imminent extreme winds as if a tornado was approaching and move immediately to an interior room or shelter NOW!,” said the NWS.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday said he is asking the federal government for a major disaster declaration in all 67 counties, as massive Hurricane Ian pounded the Gulf Coast and was poised to move across the state.
