Despite Obstruction, DHS Removes “Worst of the Worst” from Sanctuary City, Citing Over 5,000 Arrests
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Wednesday a significant achievement in its targeted immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles, California. Since June, U.S. Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have arrested over 5,000 undocumented individuals identified as serious criminals, including rapists, gang members, murderers, and child sex offenders.
Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the milestone on August 26, emphasizing the department’s commitment to public safety despite facing what she described as “violent rioters” attempting to obstruct law enforcement efforts.

“DHS law enforcement has made over 5,000 arrests in Los Angeles. That’s more than 5,000 criminal undocumented individuals, gang members, child predators, and murderers taken off our streets,” Secretary Noem stated. “Precious lives saved. Families protected. American taxpayers spared the cost of their crimes AND the burden of their benefits. Thank you to our brave law enforcement officers. Make no mistake: if you are here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back. This is just the beginning.”
