The Department of Homeland Security announced the deportation of several illegal immigrant gang members following recent enforcement operations led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to a DHS statement, the removed individuals held criminal records that include convictions and arrests for attempted murder, burglary, robbery, and driving under the influence.
“Last week, ICE deported more vicious illegal alien gang members from our country, including those convicted for attempted murder, driving under the influence, and burglary,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said. “The brave men and women of ICE work tirelessly every single day to arrest and remove illegal aliens from our communities so that we can make America safe again. America is no longer a safe haven for illegal aliens. If you are here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and deport you.”
DHS identified five of the individuals removed during the operation:
Eddy Ely Lopez, a Mexican citizen and Surenos gang member, was deported on August 12. His record includes convictions for attempted murder, using a firearm during a felony, criminal street gang activity, and drug possession while in prison.
Marco Obdulio Sarmiento Crispin, a Guatemalan citizen and MS-13 gang member, was deported on August 12. His record shows arrests for homicide, vehicle theft, and drug possession.
Candelario Gomez-Vasquez, a Mexican citizen and Paisas gang member, was deported on August 16. He has convictions for robbery, driving under the influence, resisting an officer, and illegal re-entry, alongside prior arrests for burglary and cocaine possession.
Julian Patino Espinoza, a Mexican citizen and Crips gang member, was deported on August 10. His record includes convictions for burglary, larceny, and illegal re-entry, with arrests for driving under the influence, drug possession, and possessing burglary tools.
Cristian Adonay Melgar-Cermeno, a Guatemalan citizen and Latin Kings gang member, was deported on August 13. He holds convictions for driving under the influence, burglary, and obstructing police officers.
Federal officials confirmed that all five individuals have been returned to their respective home countries.
