A chaotic living arrangement in a Florida home turned bloody Wednesday afternoon when 56-year-old Ramon Lauzurique-Gonzalez allegedly shot his roommate during a jealous rage. Police say the violence was sparked by a heated argument regarding why his ex-wife ended their marriage.
The shooting occurred at a Miami home, where Lauzurique-Gonzalez lived alongside his ex-wife, the victim, and the victim’s wife. According to investigators, the two women in the home are sisters. The four individuals had shared the space for about three months before the situation boiled over around 4:30 p.m.
Witnesses told detectives that Lauzurique-Gonzalez began berating his ex-wife, claiming she only divorced him because she was physically attracted to the victim. According to the probable cause affidavit, the defendant stormed out the front door, declaring in Spanish, “I’m going to solve a problem.”

He returned shortly after through a side entrance. The victim’s wife was in the kitchen fixing a meal for her husband, who had just finished work, when she saw Lauzurique-Gonzalez emerge from a bedroom with a black handgun. The affidavit states he leveled the weapon at the victim and shouted, “I’m going to f—ing kill you today.”
Lauzurique-Gonzalez fired a single shot, hitting the victim in the right shoulder. Despite the wound, the victim collapsed and then stood back up to try and disarm the gunman. During the ensuing struggle, the defendant allegedly pistol-whipped the victim on the side of the head. Both women attempted to jump in and restrain Lauzurique-Gonzalez as the fight moved through the house.
The victim eventually managed to wrestle the gun away and threw it toward the front door to keep it out of the defendant’s reach before running from the home. Police later found the firearm near the north entrance.
Officers caught up with Lauzurique-Gonzalez a few blocks away near Southwest 34th Avenue. While he agreed to speak with investigators after being read his rights, the details of his statement were redacted in court documents.
Lauzurique-Gonzalez is now facing a charge of second-degree attempted murder with a firearm. He is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
