Blue states are now grappling with rising COVID-19 infections, and perhaps deaths, as fall’s chill marches toward winter’s freeze.
According to the Associated Press, Connecticut has the fastest-rising rate of new COVID illnesses – jumping 116 percent in two weeks. The AP also noted, “Four of the five states with the highest recent increase in virus cases are in New England.”
One may find a Republican governor in the region – as in Massachusetts, for example – but make no mistake: that is the deepest-blue part of America east of the Mississippi River.
Yet despite that trend, and the actual data from the Sun Belt, where COVID is waning, some still seek to float the false narrative that the South – and particularly Florida – remains enmeshed in superspreader hell.
Take the Daily Beast, for instance.
The left-wing website on Tuesday reported on an event at the World Equestrian Center in North Central Florida from early November.
There, a local physician from Ocala gathered many doctors who question the mask-up, lockdown, forced-jab policies of the Biden administration. The panelists also discussed the medicines and treatments – such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin – that liberals have scoffed at for 18 months.
The event pulled in at least 800 people, and maybe up to 900, organizers said.
But the Daily Beast was there to reveal the truth of this superspreader debacle masquerading as a discussion of anti-Fauciian science.
Seven people – yes, seven – came away from the facility with a COVID diagnosis.
That’s less than 1 percent of the crowd – compared to the 116 percent spike in Connecticut.
The Daily Beast ignored state Health Department reports that showed COVID at the moment is barely a blip on the radar of the community around the event site, Marion County, where “fringe doctors” showed to spout “incendiary MAGA nonsense.”
In press releases, the department reports that Marion’s County’s COVID positivity rate is the lowest it’s been in five months – and that since the conference that enticed the virus-scolds at the Daily Beast, that rate has actually fallen, from 3.3 percent to 2.6 percent.
This is not really a surprise.
For nearly four months, college and pro football teams across the South have held impending, unmasked superspreader gatherings – and the predictions of doom and gloom have failed. According to the CDC, the transmission rate is characterized as “moderate” in almost all of Florida, and in roughly half the counties between Georgia and Texas.
Instead, the website wanted to attack the physicians for touting ivermectin – and repeated the lie that people who take the drug, as Joe Rogan found out, are taking a “horse dewormer.”
To that end, it is worth quoting the words of the Nobel Prize committee that awarded the 2015 prize for medicine to researchers who utilized ivermectin to fight parasitic-driven diseases in the Third World.
“The consequences in terms of improved human health and reduced suffering are immeasurable,” the committee said. “The importance of Ivermectin for improving the health and wellbeing of millions of individuals with River Blindness and Lymphatic Filariasis, primarily in the poorest regions of the world, is immeasurable. Treatment is so successful that these diseases are on the verge of eradication, which would be a major feat in the medical history of humankind.”
