A Canadian fugitive, Daniel St. Pierre, wanted by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) on serious felony charges, was successfully apprehended in France on October 2, 2025, following an international manhunt.
The arrest of the 59-year-old St. Pierre, a Canadian citizen, was a coordinated effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service – Middle District of Florida, the Marshals’ Office of International Operations, INTERPOL, and French law enforcement.
The Charges and Flight
St. Pierre was originally out on bond in Hernando County, Florida, facing charges of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation on a Minor Child.
His flight began on July 21, 2025, when a Florida GPS Monitoring officer notified Detective Marcacci that St. Pierre had potentially removed his court-ordered GPS ankle monitor. An investigation quickly determined that St. Pierre had fled the state, violating his pre-trial release conditions. A felony arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Tampering with a GPS Monitoring Device.
According to the HCSO, St. Pierre’s decision to flee the United States and remove his electronic monitoring device was made after the completion of court depositions in the molestation case. The victim and witness testimony presented during those proceedings was described as “highly incriminating” toward St. Pierre, leading him to believe there was a substantial likelihood of conviction.
A Multi-Country Chase
Upon fleeing Florida, St. Pierre initially returned to Canada. The HCSO requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend him.
Shortly after arriving in Canada, authorities report that St. Pierre used his Canadian passport to travel first to Portugal and then to France. This initiated a complex international investigation that involved law enforcement agencies in the United States, Canada, Portugal, and France.
Capture in Bayonne
The extensive international cooperation culminated on October 2, 2025, when French authorities, coordinated by the U.S. Marshals and INTERPOL, successfully located and apprehended St. Pierre without incident. He was taken into custody by a French S.W.A.T. team while walking the streets of Bayonne, France.
St. Pierre is currently pending extradition to the United States to face the charges in Hernando County, Florida.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office expressed its sincere appreciation to the U.S. Marshals Service, INTERPOL, and all international law enforcement partners for their “outstanding cooperation and assistance” in securing the arrest.
