A 34-year-old Mississippi man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing was taken into custody on August 10, 2026, following a coordinated search by federal and local law enforcement agencies.
Carnelius Hudson was arrested in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service. He faced an active murder warrant issued by the Ruleville Police Department.
The investigation began earlier that morning when officers in Ruleville, Mississippi, responded to a call regarding an unresponsive woman at a residence in the 300 block of Oscar Street. Upon entering the home, authorities found the woman dead with apparent stab wounds and lacerations.
Following the discovery, the Ruleville Police Department secured an arrest warrant for Hudson and contacted the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force to assist in tracing his whereabouts.
Investigators with the task force determined Hudson had left Mississippi and traveled west into Oklahoma. Task force members alerted the U.S. Marshals Service for the Eastern District of Oklahoma to help locate him.
By Monday afternoon, federal marshals tracked Hudson to a motel in Sallisaw. Officers set up surveillance on the property, visually confirmed Hudson as he left the premises in a vehicle, and moved in to arrest him.
Authorities reported that the arrest occurred without further incident.
Hudson was taken to the Sequoyah County Jail in Oklahoma, where he remains held pending extradition proceedings to face charges in Mississippi.
The Ruleville Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are continuing the homicide investigation. Authorities ask anyone with additional information on this case or other wanted fugitives to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-800-336-0102.
