A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Friday morning after a car traveling on a local overpass fell onto the lanes of Interstate 75. The accident, which took place at approximately 10:06 AM on February 6, resulted in one death and left another driver with minor injuries.
According to investigators, a 27-year-old man from Inverness was driving a Honda Accord eastbound on CR-462. Simultaneously, a 61-year-old man from Georgia was traveling southbound on I-75 in a Volvo SUV. For reasons that have not yet been determined, the driver of the Honda lost control of his vehicle while crossing the CR-462 overpass.
The car left the roadway, went over the side of the bridge, and landed on the interstate below.

Upon landing, the Honda collided with the southbound Volvo. The impact sent the Volvo toward the outside shoulder of the interstate, where it came to a final rest. The Honda remained in the southbound travel lanes of I-75.
Emergency personnel arriving at the scene confirmed that the 27-year-old driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the Volvo suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The southbound lanes of I-75 experienced significant delays while officials conducted an investigation and cleared the wreckage. The cause of the initial loss of control remains under investigation by state authorities.
