Inverness Wildfire Knocked Down By Citrus County Fire Rescue; Containment Underway

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A wildfire that broke out off East Silver Oaks Terrace in Inverness, Citrus County, has been knocked down, according to reports from the scene.

Citrus County Fire Rescue successfully controlled the main body of the fire after responding to the blaze, which was of unknown size.

Following the knockdown, Florida Forest Service (FFS) Wildland Firefighters from the Withlacoochee Forestry Center have taken over operations to establish secure containment lines around the perimeter.

No information regarding the size of the fire or its cause has been released at this time.

Officials from the Florida Forest Service and Citrus County Fire Rescue are on site and monitoring the situation, with updates expected as more details become available.
