WIMAUMA, Fla. – Authorities in Hillsborough County are searching for answers following the death of a young child on Friday afternoon. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 2500 block of Tee Time Road in Wimauma at approximately 3:30 p.m. on February 20, 2026.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located a 4-year-old child who was unresponsive. Despite efforts at the scene, the child was later pronounced deceased. Officials have not yet released the identity of the child or the circumstances leading up to the 911 call.
Detectives remained on the scene as part of what they are calling an active and ongoing investigation. The exact cause of death has not been determined and is currently pending a formal review by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Sheriff’s Office representatives stated that no further details are available at this time.
