Investigation Underway After Woman’s Body Found In Plant City

PLANT CITY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has opened a death investigation after a woman was found deceased in Plant City on Sunday morning.

The discovery was made on April 19, 2026, at approximately 9:26 a.m. A passerby contacted 911 dispatchers after spotting an unresponsive woman near a bridge on Paul Buchman Highway, located close to the Tollar Road intersection.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located the adult female in an area identified as a known transient camp. According to investigators, the woman had sustained trauma to her upper body.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity, pending the notification of her next of kin.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and officials have categorized the case as an active scene. No further details regarding the cause of death or potential leads have been made public at this time.

“This remains an active investigation,” the HCSO Public Affairs Office confirmed.
