Tensions reached a new peak on Monday as Iran’s leadership issued a defiant response to ongoing U.S. military strikes, claiming that American air campaigns in Tehran would not stop their ability to wage war.

Iran’s foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, announced on X that the country has transitioned to a “decentralized mosaic defense,” a strategy he claims allows Tehran to dictate the terms of the conflict’s conclusion.

“We’ve had two decades to study defeats of the U.S. military to our immediate east and west,” the Iranian foreign minister stated. “We’ve incorporated lessons accordingly. Bombings in our capital have no impact on our ability to conduct war.” He further asserted that this mosaic defense “enables us to decide when and how war will end.”

The Iranian statement comes in the wake of “Operation Epic Fury,” a U.S. military campaign that has targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iranian naval assets.

President Trump confirmed that U.S. forces have sunk nine Iranian warships and utilized B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to take out ballistic missile facilities. The President also warned of the likelihood of further casualties as Iran continues both offensive and defensive maneuvers.

Military analysts describe the “mosaic” strategy as a shift toward independent, localized units capable of launching drones and missiles without a central command. This approach is intended to counter the “air campaign ripping apart the IRGC,” which has focused on missile sites, leadership, and naval capabilities.

U.S. and allied forces, including the UK and the UAE, have responded by establishing a “zone defense” stretching from the Mediterranean to the North Arabian Gulf. This layered strategy utilizes fighter jets and Navy destroyers to intercept Iranian ballistic missiles and drone swarms.

While Tehran insists its decentralized structure remains intact, U.S. Central Command maintains that its top priority is decimating the Quds Force leadership. This elite group of approximately 10,000 personnel is responsible for managing the regional terror networks and missile sites currently under fire. As the air campaign enters its third day, both sides appear prepared for a prolonged engagement.
