Vice President Vance declares Iran’s nuclear ambitions neutralized, crediting President Trump’s decisive action for a swift and casualty-free victory.

Vice President JD Vance said Monday on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” that Iran was “very close” to completing a nuclear weapon prior to the U.S. intervention, a critical threat that he claims has now been neutralized.

This declaration follows President Donald Trump’s earlier announcement on Truth Social regarding a “very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran” and a subsequent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.

“A week ago, the Iranians were quite close to achieving a nuclear weapon. Now they cannot build a nuclear weapon,” Vance stated, attributing this swift and decisive outcome to President Trump’s leadership.

The U.S. strikes came days after President Trump indicated he would decide within two weeks whether to involve the U.S. in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict. War between the two nations erupted on June 12 after Israel launched preemptive strikes, vowing to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Addressing the apparent division within the Republican Party regarding U.S. involvement, Vice President Vance defended the administration’s strategy.

“I think the president has squared those two sides quite well,” Vance told Baier, emphasizing the trust many have in the President’s access to classified intelligence. “We had a very particular objective. It was profound and difficult to accomplish the elimination of the Iranian nuclear program. I think the president successfully did that.”

Despite some GOP lawmakers, including Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, expressing concerns about the U.S. entering an ongoing war, Vance highlighted the minimal impact on American forces.

“In one week, without, thank God so far, not losing a single American casualty, we have taken what was a threatening nuclear program that could have destabilized the entire world. Now that program is gone,” he affirmed.

Following the initial U.S. strikes and Trump’s call for peace, Iran retaliated by firing at the Al Udeid U.S. Air Base in Qatar. However, reports indicate no U.S. casualties and minimal damage. President Trump later disclosed on Truth Social that Iran had warned the U.S. prior to this retaliatory attack.

President Trump has consistently maintained a hardline stance against Iran possessing nuclear weapons, previously stating that the demand in the conflict is Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”

The administration now asserts that this objective has been achieved, significantly altering the geopolitical landscape in the Middle East.
