‘It Is Communism’: J.D. Vance Claims Elite Professors Have Taken Over The Dem Party

Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the Democratic Party is moving toward communism, arguing that the political shift is a direct result of academic institutions gaining control over the party’s platform.

During an interview on Fox News, host Laura Ingraham asked Vance whether Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) factions would ultimately dominate the entirety of the Democratic Party. Ingraham drew a parallel to the political shifts seen in the Republican Party following the rise of the Tea Party movement in 2009, which she noted eventually led to the election of Donald Trump.

Vance responded that he believes the party is moving in a radical direction. “I unfortunately fear that’s the direction the Democrats are headed, and it is communism, Laura,” Vance said. He clarified that his concern extends beyond standard policy debates like tax adjustments, pointing instead to what he described as a fundamental transformation.

According to Vance, this current political direction includes “abolishing the police,” letting “criminals run amok in your cities,” and flooding the country with “low-wage third-world immigrants.”

He also alleged that the party is focused on “confiscating wealth, not because we want to make anybody’s life better, but purely out of resentment, out of an attack on the people who have that wealth to begin with.” Vance remarked that these circumstances are unprecedented in the history of American politics.

Vance traced the root of these platforms back to higher education, claiming the shift occurred because the party stopped representing its historical base. “Laura, I think that it actually is a consequence of the fact that the Democrat party has become run by the universities and by the professors,” Vance stated. “This is not working-class Union Democrats. This is not socially conservative people who just want a fair shake at life.”

He further characterized this academic influence as an ideological effort to restructure the nation. Vance said the current movement holds “fundamentally a view that the United States is an evil country that must be dismantled from the ground and then built back up,” adding that this concept is “communism at its core.”

Concluding his remarks, Vance noted that he would prefer to find common ground with opposition lawmakers on practical economic issues, such as reducing the costs of gas and housing. However, he maintained that the current Democratic trajectory focuses instead on “abolishing the police and letting criminals rule our cities,” which he argued makes it critical to keep them from getting close to power.
