ST. PETERSBURG – Jannus Live, a downtown St. Petersburg concert venue, announced Tuesday that it will close temporarily after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a post on the Jannus Live Facebook page, this closure includes three nearby businesses, The Landing, The Pelican Pub and Detroit Liquor, which are all owned by Knight Global Entertainment.

“As many of you know, we operate multiple locations in a common space. Although this staff member was not part of our direct bar service team, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to temporarily shut down for the next couple of days to sanitize and deep clean thoroughly,” the post read.

In this statement, the venue also said it will reschedule Friday’s concert featuring Kenny Chesney tribute band Pirate Flag. A new date has yet to be announced.

“It saddens us greatly as we were so looking forward to bringing back live music, but we believe wholeheartedly this is the right thing for this time and in the best interest of the general public and our staff,” Jannus Live’s post read.

These closures come as St. Petersburg experiences a spike in COVID-19 cases. Downtown businesses The Galley, Park & Rec, and The Avenue Eat + Drink closed last Friday after staff members tested positive for the coronavirus. Hawkers Asian Street Fare, located in the EDGE District, didn’t announce any positive cases at its restaurant, but said it was temporarily shutting its doors “out of an abundance of caution.”
