A domestic dispute escalated violently early Friday morning when a 20-year-old Texas man allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s current suitor after vandalizing his vehicle outside her Laredo home, according to police.

Christian Fonseca allegedly arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s residence in the 100 block of St. Pierre Lane around 1:48 a.m. on Friday and began jumping on the hood of her current boyfriend’s car, according to Laredo Police Department.

The commotion prompted the new boyfriend to step outside, sparking a confrontation between the two men. Authorities say that during the altercation, Fonseca allegedly tried to force his way into the front door to get to his ex-girlfriend, who remained inside the home.

The scuffle intensified, and Fonseca allegedly plunged a knife into the victim. The new boyfriend suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.

Following the incident, the ex-girlfriend called the police. Officers located Fonseca several houses away from the residence.

Fonseca has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the latest incident. He remained behind bars without bond as of Sunday.

According to the Laredo Morning Times, Fonseca was already subject to a criminal trespass warning following previous harassment complaints. Court records indicate he was arrested in August for resisting arrest and criminal trespass, crimes for which he was subsequently released on bond.

It is not clear whether those prior arrests were related to the ex-girlfriend. The Laredo Police Department has not responded to requests for comment regarding additional details.
